Author’s tl;dr: The Rietburg Chairlift is the best way to view the lovely vineyards that make up the Southern German Wine Road and a wonderful way to shorten the Edenkoben Tal Deer and waterfall hike. You’ll get off the chairlift and be at the Rietburg castle restaurant and deer park.
Open daily from March-November. 9:00-5:00 (hours vary), check site. Location: Sesselbahn Edenkoben, Villastraße 67, 67480 Edenkoben. Parking is here.
If you want to make a weekend out of it, the best place to stay is the located a few hundred meters away from the chairlift : Wohlfuhlhotel Spa hotel.
As you ascend in the Rietburgbahn, you’re treated to panoramic vistas of the Southern Wine Road (Deutsche Winestrasse).
At the summit, not only are you rewarded with the historical site, but you also have the chance to relax at the restored castle ruin restaurant, Höhengaststätte Rietburg, which invites you to replenish and soak in the impressive scenery.

By Car
Driving is the easiest way to get to this chairlift.
Drivers should navigate towards the Deutsche Weinstrasse (German Wine Route), taking the exit for Edenkoben.
The address of the parking area is: Parkplatz Edenkoben.
It is an 11 min walk to the valley station.
By Train
If you want to take the train, you can easily go from Neustadt to the Edenkoben station. It’s probably easier to take the bus however and get off on the Rhodt, Mitte station. It’s a 2.0 km walk from there to to the sesselbahn. Take bus 500 toward Landau.
