If you’re an enthusiast for the outdoors, the surrounding nature in Kirkel will not disappoint. You can explore thick forests and well-marked trails that invite both the casual walker and the avid hiker.

Historically, Kirkel has an understated yet captivating presence, with its impressive ruins of Kirkel Castle offering a window to the past. As you wander through these historical remnants, you’re reminded of the area’s rich heritage.

There are a TON of trails.

They are exceptionally well-marked and great for beginners. They are not especially stroller friendly but very kid friendly.

There’s even a marble course for the kiddoes and plenty of springs to get your healing on!

This is a cave near the Frauenbrunnen – or Ladies Spring.

Seriously, how cute!

You can go on the Robber’s Path and find all kinds of cool hand carved stuff.

There’s rings here for rock climbers.

The “fels” here are extensive, even more so than in Landstuhl.

It rivals Pirmasens for cool red sandstone formations.

So, is Kirkel Germany worth visiting? Yes, due to it’s amazing history, well-marked hiking paths and lovely castle, it’s a great place to see the real Germany in Saarland.
